Mission Statement
The West Virginia Higher Education Assessment Council promotes continuous improvement in teaching and learning at the state’s public higher education institutions by providing leadership and support to foster a culture of assessment.
Goals
The goals of the West Virginia Higher Education Assessment Council are to support all public institutions in West Virginia to:
- Develop campus cultures of assessment
- Use multifaceted assessment programs
- Empower educators to participate fully
- Assess value-added learning
- Use national measures
- Assess capstone courses
- Align curricula with national and international goals and standards
- Use results for continuous improvement and accountability
- Meet the North Central Higher Learning Commission’s standards
- Implement an electronic database to accurately collect and report assessment data
