Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences
This office coordinates health sciences programs and policies and provides oversight of the Rural Health Education Partnerships (RHEP). RHEP is a statewide program that provides community-based training for students in dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health fields. The program goal is recruitment and retention of health care professionals in rural underserved areas. In addition, the office administers the Rural Residency program, which provides grants to extend graduate medical education to rural communities. The office issues an annual Health Sciences and Rural Health Report Card in collaboration with the state’s health professions schools and RHEP.
